North Yorkshire

This very brief section is primarily intended for those who do not live in the area and are wondering where we are. If you live elsewhere in Britain or Ireland there is probably another bat group for your area - the Bat Conservation Trust will be able to advise you.

North Yorkshire is situated on the East Coast of Britain, roughly half way between London and Edinburgh. It is England's largest county and includes rural areas such as the Yorkshire Dales, the Yorkshire Moors and Ryedale, as well as urban areas including Harrogate and Scarborough. The City of York is not part of the county for administrative purposes (it has its own council), but is included within the North Yorkshire Bat Group area.

For more information the N. Yorkshire County Council website is a good starting point.
